Who doesn’t love a good cookie exchange? Whether you’re at work, church, or just with a group of friends or family, everyone loves sharing their favorite recipes with loved ones and bringing home many other delicious treats to try. You can even package them up to give as gifts. Dollar Tree sells adorable holiday containers. Stick a ribbon on top and you have the perfect gift for a neighbor, coworker, even your mail carrier or trash collector. They’re great to have on-hand for the unexpected guest, too. 😉

Suggestions for hosting a fun and successful cookie exchange:

  • Ask guests to bring printed copies of their recipes, enough for each participant to take one home, OR have them each email their recipes to you and you can share them all on social media,  your blog, or even by email!
  • Instead of having each person bring their own containers, which often won’t fit all the treats they take home, buy some half-size aluminum steam table pans, like these below. Use wax paper or parchment paper to separate layers and prevent sticking, then use aluminum foil or plastic wrap to cover them. Easy peasy.
  • Provide your guests with some festive alcoholic or non-alcoholic drinks and appetizers.
  • Ask each guest to bring one unwrapped toy to donate to a local homeless shelter, domestic violence shelter, or Toys for Tots. You could also have each guest bring canned food to donate to a food bank, or pet toys for your favorite animal shelter. This part is obviously up to you, but any of these options will warm your hearts while helping others.

Of course, what’s any good cookie exchange without some amazing cookies? And who says you have to be limited to cookies, anyway? What about brownies, bars, and truffles? Mmmm…my mouth is watering already.

Here are 22 drool-worthy recipes for cookies, brownies, bars, and more. Enjoy! Drop me a note or a link in the comments with your favorite holiday treat recipe! The more, the merrier. <3
